Everything you need to get going

On your tablet, open Settings → General → Help → Copyrights and licenses. Scroll to the very bottom — under “General information” you'll find your device's Wi-Fi IP address along with a one-time SSH password.

If you connect your reMarkable to your Mac with the USB-C cable, you can also always reach it at the fixed address 10.11.99.1 — no Wi-Fi needed.

1. Make sure your Mac and reMarkable are on the same Wi-Fi network, or connect them with the USB-C cable.
2. In Remplate, enter the IP address and the device password from the screen above.
3. Hit connect — a green indicator confirms you're in.

For the more technical, connecting with an SSH key is also supported instead of a password.

• Both devices are on the same network (or use the USB-C cable and 10.11.99.1).
• Your USB-C cable supports data transfer, not just charging.
• The password matches exactly — it's case-sensitive and changes if you factory-reset.

Templates are PNG files sized exactly to your device's screen. Use portrait dimensions below (swap width/height for landscape):

Prefer to design your own? Download a blank base template in Figma, Penpot, Affinity, Illustrator, or PNG from the specs section on the home page, sized correctly for your device.

Once connected, Remplate shows the templates already on your device. To add your own, click Add Template, choose your PNG, and pick an orientation.

Every template you add appears under the Custom category on your reMarkable, so your additions stay neatly separated from the built-in ones. Stage your changes, review them, then push — Remplate restarts the device's interface automatically so your new templates show up right away.

Yes — you can remove any of reMarkable's built-in templates to declutter the picker. But removing a default template is not individually recoverable.

The only way to bring them back is to restore all default templates at once, from Settings → Restore default templates in the app. So remove with intent, and keep a backup if you're unsure.
